Text Box: Gaibandha is a northern district of Bangladesh comprised of 7 Upazilas, 82 Unions and 3 municipalities with an area of 2,179 sq. km. Brahmaputra, Teesta, Jamuna and Karotoa have crisscrossed the district with numerous branches where 30 percent areas are char area. About 2 lakhs people are the inhabitants in 122 different islands of those rivers. Natural calamities especially flood; draught, erosion, tornado etc are common scenario of this district. Every year people who are poor and living in char and river basin areas have to loss huge assets, crops and so on by flood and river erosion
